About 3 weeks into her first trimester at the university, Kara was still feeling her way in this new life of independence, of college life and trying to make new friends. Things weren't going exactly the way she had planned, so she walked downstairs to the library café for her favorite comfort drink; a triple grande, 2/3 decaf, skinny white mocha with only half the chocolate, extra hot and of course, with whipped cream.
Jason was in line behind her and when he heard her order, his jaw dropped. "That is my drink!," he said as he introduced himself. Immediately, they hit it off as the talked over their coffees. "What chemistry," they both thought about an hour later as they went their separate ways, smiles on their faces, with dinner plans for Friday evening.
Over the course of the next year and a half, Kara and Jason were inseparable. They would freeze together at late fall football games, study together despite the fact that she was studying biology and he political sciences. They would run, hike, lay in the park on sunny afternoons, and go to bible studies together. They were in fact, in love.
When his graduation came around, Jason sat nervously throughout the whole ceremony. Little to Kara's knowledge, he was hiding a ring under his cap! She congratulated him on his success, hugging him hard, but he didn't hear a word she said. As soon as she let go, he got down on one knee. Of course she said yes and in their exhiliration, they began planning their wedding.
Two weeks after their honeymoon, Jason and Kara decided to go for an afternoon coffee date. Kara ordered 2 triple grande, 2/3 decaf, skinny white mochas, with half the chocolate, extra hot, and of course, with whipped cream. As she turned to ask if he wanted a bagel or scone, he replied to the cashier, "actually, I'll have a grande drip with a shot and room for cream." Her jaw dropped, "you've never ordered that before, you don't even like drip coffee." The truth is, he never really liked white mochas.
